The Yoga & Meditation Courses have changed my life. I now have purpose to my life and want to help others.

I have stayed here several times and highly recommend it as a place of "time out" -- whether for one of the many meditation and personal discovery retreats offered throughout the year, ongoing yoga, or exploration of the Ananda spiritual community that makes Expanding Light available.

It is a truly beautiful and inspirational place in all seasons of the year. The rolling grounds and ridges can be roamed freely. You often come across birds and deer so accustomed to the high "vibes" of the place that they let you come surprisingly close.

Meals here are scrumptious. Guests are often amazed at how delicious vegetarian food can be.
It can be eaten either inside in the lovely wooden dining hall or outside at tables under umbrellas on the stone patio. Meeting other spiritual seekers from around the world also adds a special flavor to meal time.

There is a boutique with quite a variety of meditation and yoga gear; jewelry; pictures; music and books by Ananda's guru Paramhansa Yogananda and the community's founder Swami Kriyanandan (as well as the Expanding Light's acclaimed chefs); and more.

My favorite way to get to the Expanding Light from elsewhere is by rail. America's western trains pass through incredible scenery in relaxed comfort -- and it's no more challenging to arrive by train than plane as far as the final leg of the approach.
